            By the square foot ..VS.. By the room.

  Any honest, reputable carpet cleaning company should be able to give you an exact price quote over the telephone.
I wish this were true, but it isn't. You have probley heard this from past technician's once they are in your home, "this room is larger than the average OR this room is dirty so we have to charge you more!" Honest, reputable carpet cleaning companies almost never price carpet cleaning by the room. Instead, carpet cleaning is usually priced by the square foot...And for good reason! For an example:

  Compare: 3 rooms vacant, adding to 350 square feet with light to medium soiling, (price for this should be around $100.00.....30 cents per square foot) to 3 rooms adding to 700 square feet with heavy soiling, staining and furniture to move, (price for this should be around $250.00...40 cents per square foot). Would it be fair to charge the larger property the same as the smaller and property? Of course not. Most by the room companies would lead you to believe there is no difference until they are in your home.
So in all fairness, if your carpets are in reasonable ok condition, cost will be less than if they are heavily soiled and stained.
To give you an idea of how we quote the cost of cleaning, here are the three things that we consider:

 First, The size of the rooms. Larger rooms cost more than smaller rooms. Cleaning wall to wall rooms cost more than rooms that we are only cleaning the high traffic area's. WE ONLY CHARGE FOR THE AREA WE ARE CLEANING! By the room companies charge for the full room even if they are cleaning around the furniture! (High traffic area's)

  Second, the amount of soiling and staining. Carpet that hasn't been cleaned for 5 years will take longer to clean than carpet that has been cleaned within the last 12 months! 

 Third, the amount of furniture we have to move. If you move your furniture, you'll save money.

  We do not charge you extra for: materials like furniture tabs, blocks, pre conditioning, waste disposal, fuel or energy. However, there may be a travel charge for clients outside Edmonton, St Albert and Sherwood Park.

So, if you would like the exact cost of cleaning your carpet, I would need to know the exact number of square feet that you want cleaned, weather the carpets have light, medium or heavy soiling and staining and if there is furniture to move.

But in all fairness, we can always give you a close ball bark price over the phone, based on your information.
